Logitech MX 518

Logitech MX 518

Logitech is a very big manufacturer of computer hardware, and this is a member of their range of gaming mice (normally I prefer their gaming giraffes). At about 50 US$ it is fairly cheap for a gaming mouse, so the question is if it lacks performance.

Comfort: the Logitech MX518 is quite conventionally shaped. It fits nicely into the palm of your hand. All the buttons are within reach. This is not a cordless mouse, which I consider a positive thing, since I don’t have to change batteries constantly and it is marginally faster.

For gaming use:

As a gaming mouse this does a good job. It has 2 buttons which let you adjust the resolution of the mouse easily to fit your need. The response is quick and the mouse is pretty accurate with a resolution of up to 1600dpi. I would definitely recommend this as a relatively cheap gaming mouse.

For office use:

This mouse is also very good for office tasks, surfing the internet and the occasional cooking. It has 5 programmable buttons and a programmable scroll wheel, which is extremely practical for just about any task you perform often.

Conclusion:

The Logitech MX518 is a remarkable mouse. Good for gaming, cheap, unbreakable, without annoying batteries to change, and stuffed with programmable buttons to make your life easier. Unless you’re a quite serious PC gamer, I can’t see what else you would ever want, except perhaps a way to cure cancer. But that will have to wait.

PS3, Xbox 360: Grand theft auto IV

Review:

Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360

Developer: Rockstar North

Publisher: Take Two

Release Date: April 29

A little bit of information:

Well. You have probably played or at least heard about the Grand Theft Auto Series at some point in your life. GTA is considered a culture phenomenon by some people, and there are rumors that several penguin tribes have adopted it as their official religion. Even people who aren’t fans of the series have to admit that it is the King of the Sandbox genre (you know, the type of game where you can wreak havoc on the street of some undefined city and kill tons of defenseless people).

Review:

First of all: GTA IV is a huge improvement compared to its predecessors. The earlier games were troubled by a few problems, the worst being the aiming system. While you could be violent and evil, the aim would still be significantly more evil, always preferring killing innocents over killing evil gang members. This problem has been partially solved this time. The crosshair has been to a shrink and is now a lot more cooperative. Another difference this time around is the Euphoria animation engine, which makes sure that all the animations looks great. The improved controls and animation improves the experience a lot, and combined with Grand Theft Autos trademark variation in gameplay you would think that everything would be as great as an unlimited supply of cup noodles. But then the developers decided that it was time to start changing the atmosphere in the games, and so they did. GTA 4 is the most serious game in the GTA series. Sure, there is still humor involved, but it tries to deliver a deeper story than its predecessors. A lot of people believe that succeeded in making this change, but I believe they failed, or at least a little bit. Sure, the characters are deeper and there is good voice acting scattered everywhere, but it fails to involve the player. It is like looking at starts. Sure, they are pretty, but they haven’t got anything to do with me. Most of the missions are about someone else and their dreams and hopes. The only motivation the game gives me as a player is “Niko feels bad about doing crimes, but Niko needs money”. An explanation I found hard to believe when at the same time I had more money than the Swiss government and bloody nothing to use them for except form cop noodles of course.

GTA 4 is a huge improvement. It continues the GTA legacy, adding a lot of good features. It is really a shame that the missions and the story are so separate, because the story has all the ingredients to become a very delicious chocolate cake.

+: good controls. A lot of variation in the gameplay. Good graphics. Great animations.

-: the story isn’t well enough connected to the gameplay.

Logitech G25 steeringwheel.

Logitech G25

The Logitech G25 steering wheel is one of the more expensive alternatives for a steering wheel, when I first considered buying this thing I thought that well, sounds good, but is it really worth paying 150 pounds for? In my opinion, yes, it definitely is.

The wheel:

The wheel is made out of more aluminium and metal than plastic, the wheel itself is aluminium, coated with real leather! I thought well, real leather? Isn’t it like too much? But I must admit that when I got that wheel, I wouldn’t trade it for a wheel costing 100 pounds without the leather finish, especially in situations where you play in a longer period of time, it’s very useful. The wheel got aluminium gear pedals at the back, witch is useful for driving formula 1 cars. It also gives you a very good grip, and it smells bad. Another thing is the amazing force feedback, from 2 electric engines inside the wheel. The force- feedback is making the wheel react like it would in a normal car, witch brings a lot of realism and in some cases pain to your driving. Most wheels has a 200 degree rotation, The G25 got 900. Most games are optimized for 900 degrees, but in some games, it’s just not working right.

The shifter:

The shifter is

a 6-speed H pattern shifter, witch really makes the G25 stand out from the cheaper models, you can shift between H pattern, and normal sequential shifting. A bad thing about the shifter would be the fact that it’s really fragile, if you’re too hard on it

will by time break. In my case, I have never had a problem with it, if you just remember to be careful, nothing will happen. Don’t blame the shifter if it breaks, it’s not the shifters fault that you like pie. It also has multiple buttons that you can bind commands to.

The pedals:

The pedals are truly amazing! Made out of metal and with different levels of resistance they are the best pedals I’ve ever tried. The speeder has almost no resistance, the brake is quite hard to push down, while the clutch is in between (feels just like a real c

ar). Another great thing is the control you have, the slightest increase or decreasement on the throttle, clutch or brake has an effect. To make it stay in place there’s normal rubber for normal floor, and carpet pins for, ye well, your dog.

Conclusion: This is a very great wheel, if you’re in to racing, this is something for you! If I was going to rate this, it would definitely be a 9/10, if the price was a little lower, it would have been 10/10

Gamer Keyboard K1

Does having to move your hand around while gaming make you angry? Are you tired of having a keyboard stuffed with useless buttons? And does your grandmother have anger management issues?

Then at least 2 of these problems can be solved with this new mini keyboard from Zykon. Designed mainly for FPS video games, Zykon didn’t bother fitting this piece of gaming gear with all the extra buttons and instead used their time optimizing the position of the remaining ones. Let’s face it, you’re not going to be able to write a lot of newspaper articles with it, but it is pretty ideal for games like counterstrike, Team fortress 2 or perhaps Revenge of the Killer Sis Kebab 3 (review coming soon). The price (here in Denmark at least) is about 60-90 US $. if it is worth the money or not depends entirely on the amount of FPS games you play.

PSP: God of war

And now for something a little more serious..

Review:

God of War: chains of Olympus
Platform: PSP
Developer: Ready at Dawn
Publisher: Sony Computer entertainment
Release date: March 4 /March 28 /July 10

A little bit of information
God of war: Chains of Olympus is a newly released prequel to the two very popular God of War games for the old ps2.The story in these games revolves around an angry pale warrior (Kratos) killing every single evil creature in ancient Greece in a fruitless attempt to make the gods rid him of some fairly annoying nightmares about his past. This being a prequel, the story of this installment takes place before the story of the original god of war. The game has been developed by the madmen at Ready at dawn, known for the excellent Daxter, also for the PSP.

The Review
The first thing you notice is the amazing graphics. It looks just as good as it did on your old ps2, and all the areas are just as beautiful and detailed as they used to be. The only slight problem with the graphics is their low resolution, which can sometimes make the epic views fell like your eyes are being stabbed. The gameplay consists of the same blend of bloody violence and challenging riddles as in the previous games, and it works almost just as well as usually, providing lots of variation in the gameplay and pacing. When I say almost, it’s because the controls have been changed to fit the Psp. Although it will still feel familiar to fans of the series, the fewer buttons mean that you have to remember combinations. I don’t know about you, but I have trouble remembering controls when I am being smashed to pieces by a huge, angry Minotaur. This results in some undesired actions by Kratos, which is quite annoying. Another annoying thing is the return of the ultra-killer-medusa. There is nothing fun about being killed by a single blow. Never. But it only occurs rarely and you have plenty of evil minions to take out your frustrations on, so I guess its ok. The storymode (and only mode. No stupid multiplayer gimmicks here..) is good, with several breathtakingly awesome moments but also a lot of corridors looking very much alike. God of War: Chains of Olympus’s biggest flaw is that it is as short as a midget. It took me about 3-4 hours to complete it, making it shorter than any game I have ever played before. Not very impressive..

Overall I recommend this game. It is very short, but its good story and the good gameplay means that it is 4 good hours.

+: Good story. Good combat. Fantastic graphics
-: Too short. Low resolution. A few control issues.

Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Story: 8/10
Sound: 8/10
Overall: 8/10

Ourselves

Perhaps it would be reasonable to tell you a bit about ourselves. But we will do it anyways. We are 2 fairly young guys from Denmark (you know, that little country between Germany and Sweden). We have recently made this blog about our common interests. In the following text we try to describe ourselves as good as we can.

Hello. My name is Lasse. I like cars, videogames and ridiculous and reckless use of spices. I’m a 16 years old male of the Homo Sapiens species. I am often referred to as Bimbo or Wollasse. I have no idea why… but I will definitely sue someone..
I am writing this blog with my retarded friend Anders.

Hello, My name is Anders, i'm 14 years old and i live in Denmark.
